Swing Bed and Skilled Nursing Services

Hotline Available 24/7 (432) 208-2446

At McCamey Hospital, we understand there are times when a patient no longer needs the acute care they received when first admitted to the hospital. Patients often transfer from the hospital into a nursing or rehab facility to help them to recover and improve their physical functioning. For those patients, we offer our swing bed / skilled nursing services. The term "swing bed" means an acute care bed can "swing" to the less-intense needs of nursing or convalescent bed where physical therapy, long term IV antibiotic therapy, and wound care can be provided.

After you complete a three night stay in acute care, you can transfer to swing bed/skilled nursing services. We offer many amenities including private rooms, state-of-the-art technology, skilled physicians, physical therapists, wound care specialists and skilled nursing care. McCamey Hospital has a home-away-from-home atmosphere with one-on-one treatment.

Our Swing Bed/Skilled Nursing program is federally approved for this special care.

Qualifications include:

Your swing bed/skilled nursing must be related to an acute hospital stay.
Your doctor must determine a need for daily skilled care such as physical therapy, IV therapy, or wound care.
A patient must be hospitalized as an "acute care inpatient" (not as an "observation patient") for a minimum of three consecutive midnights in the past 30 days.
An admission can come from any facility after three midnights as an inpatient in acute care.
You have Medicare Part A or other insurance coverage with hospital-based, skilled-care benefits and days available for skilled level of care.
